// Updated: DLS 03/26/91 -- New lite version
//
// This file contains three tables. The first lists the powers of two from two
// raised to the zero'th power to two raised to the seventh power minus one.
// This is used for determining the lowest or highest bit set for some bit
// pattern by logically ANDing a bit mask that has some number of continguous
// bits set.
//
// The second table consists of 256 entries intended to be indexed by the value
// of an unsigned 8-bit quanity. The value of the lookup is the zero-relative
// bit position of the least significant bit set. For example, for the byte
// value 26, the bit pattern is 00011010 and the LSB set is the second bit,
// resulting in a zero-relative adjusted bit position of 1. This table is used
// for very efficient determination of the first/next bit set in a bit vector
// in the Bit Set class.
//
// The third table is used to efficiently determine the number of bits set for
// a specific byte value. This is useful for quickly counting the number of
// elements in a bit set object.
